Well, you can use echo chamber to explain many cases. That's true.
But you can't explain one thing with that. That's marketing/propaganda war between tech giants, which it's REAL & COMMON & INTENSE. Every Chinese netizen knows that.
Whenever
any news comes out from Huawei or Xiaomi, no matter it's positive or negative, the bullet comment & normal comment section immediately become battle field of trolls. The situation suits almost
any video, including MSM report video (MSM has more censorship), as long as it's related to these two companies. I'm sure it has nothing to do with echo chamber. It's a universal fact, difinitely not few cases.
The trolls' battle is the most intense between Huawei vs Xiaomi, but it's also expanded to Huawei vs Nvidia, CNSA vs SpaceX, etc. Battle fields are mostly large Chinese social platforms, especillay Douyin and Weibo. Douyin has the least censorship on bullet comments, so...
I'll give everyone some typical comments of trolls.
Under videos about Huawei new PC: 阿里郎电脑;价格遥遥领先 (Very limited app ecosystem but with far ahead product prices)
Under videos about Xiaomi new Chip/Car: 累总累了;花一天时间字研出高通芯片 (CEO Lei is too tired to deal with problems; Developed a Qualcomm chip in one day) (Context: Many suspect Xiaomi, who overhyped its deep tech, has very weak R&D capacity, with too much problems found in its latest Car SU7; Also suspect its phones are just fully assembled from foreign parts)
Under videos about Nvidia new chips: 我用华为三折叠,我骄傲了吗 (Am I proud of using Huawei tri-fold phones?)
Under videos about SpaceX starship flight: 不需要练五百年的按钮发射技巧吗?(Not need to practise how to press a button for 500 years?) (Context: CCTV reports, a CNSA engineer pactised tens of thousands of times on pressing the rocket launch button.)
We should admit there are indeed remaining problems in some Chinese products due to sactions or other reasons. In some areas, US is still way ahead, like chips & space launch. Some Chinese products with not-that-best perfermance & not-that-practical functions, but are hypered too much in the Chinese Internet. Also many claim that
not buying indigenous products =
impatriotics, which are causing more and more counterfires.
China is speeding fast. But nothing is easy to achieve.
