The space computing satellite constellation is aiming to build a space-based computing network composed of 2,800 computing satellites to better meet the market needs of special scenarios of space edge computing. Usually, satellites transmit the received data back to the earth, and then the ground data processing center analyzes it, which is called "sky sensing and ground computing". This mode is limited by bandwidth, with low data transmission efficiency and large information loss. Therefore, space-based computing is proposed, hoping that data can be processed in space and transmitted directly without further processing. By bringing computing power to space, the data received by the satellite can be processed in real time on orbit to achieve "sky sensing and sky computing".

Also, the company has reduced the mass of its 0.7m resolution, 18km swath remote sensing satellites from 420kg in the first-generation to 22kg currently, with this leading to a subsequent cost reduction from ¥150M per satellite to ¥5M per satellite. This comes as the company has invested ¥1.4B into R&D in order to develop smaller and more integrated satellite subsystems.

The first Chinese SAR payload intended for export passed factory review. Built for an unnamed international customer by the Qilu Research Institute of the CAS Aerospace Information Research Center (AIRCAS), the payload offers better than 1m resolution using X-band.

Review in Chinese Space: January to April

2025 has been the biggest year ever, by far, in terms of Chinese launch activity. The first 4 months of this year have seen more launches than ever before (23, compared to 17 last year and the year before), but they’ve also seen far more satellites per rocket, indicative of bigger batches of satellites being launched. Thus far in 2025, we’ve seen more than twice as many satellites launched as in any previous year, with 111 sent to orbit on those 23 rockets compared to 44 and 52 in ‘23 and ‘24, respectively.

The launch of Zhuque-2E Y2 has been scrubbed for a later date due to a technical fault caused by a support crew error: improper handling of a ground support cable connector, causing the cable to disconnect from the rocket and disrupting the pre-launch preparations. The rocket and other equipment are not damaged from this incident.
