In the first half of the Ming dynasty, expeditions were launched deep into Mongolia to destroy Mongol power. Ming forces were victorious in many engagements, but the Mongols could always flee into the steppes, beyond the reach of Ming supply lines. Later, many of the surviving Mongol tribes pledged their loyalty to of were forcibly subjugated by the Manchus. The Dzungars were a group of Mongols that inhabited the Western portions of Mongolia and Xinjiang, and had not submitted to the Manchus. They were completely wiped out by the Qing, bringing Xinjiang into the Qing empire.What the Qing did to the Mongol problem once and for all? I thought Mongol problems were sorted entirely by the Ming ?
