WTF? How did they die from this? This is very comfortable weather for a hoodie or light jacket. You'd have to be naked standing outside in the rain to even seriously suffer.

This is exactly why the development of a Chinese equivalent to Starship should be one of the top priorities for china right now. It allows for massive amounts of cargo to orbit, realistically possible a full ICBM defense network is set up.
Between upgrading the Fleet Ballistic Missiles (Trident D5 follow-on), Sentinel ICBM, B-21 and the existing GMD/NGI missile defense systems (mostly to defend against DRPK missiles), there is no money for this.

I don't doubt in the future, new ICBM counters will be found, for example, space-based lasers (there are actually some pretty interesting ideas here), but such technologies aren't even in the conceptual phase yet. And FYI, Starship won't be able to take anything other than flatpacked starlinks in the next 6-10 years due to the PEZ dispenser design - it greatly limits its capabilities.

Future weapons are mass constellation of satellite colliders (kinetically crash into another sat) or satellite that can launch laser to destroy another sat.

using ground laser can destroy cruise or icbm missiles if you have several powerful laser stations that can simultaneously direct laserbeam to the same target(missile).

Can't wait for the Mexican president to do a decree calling the US Mexican America.
Sounds like that a Mexican standoff is about to transpire.

This propaganda piece about DeepSeek from the New York Times is probably one of the funniest so far.

What DeepSeek’s Success Says About China’s Ability to Nurture Talent

China produces a vast number of STEM graduates, but it hasn’t been known for innovation. Cultural and political factors may help explain why.
