China has 11 provinces and 81 integrated areas to open the health insurance wallet.
BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Reporters (Wen Jinghua and Xu Penghang) earned from the National Health Security Administration on Jan. 16 that 81 integrated areas in 11 provinces in China have opened health insurance wallets, which are capable of cross-provincial mutual aid for individual accounts. The National Health Security Administration will make every effort to promote the opening of other areas, and will soon go online to change the place of use of the health insurance wallet and other functions.
The 11 provinces that have opened the health insurance wallet are Hebei, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Tibet, and Gansu, of which four provincial-level health insurance departments in Hebei, Xizang, Anhui, and Henan have fully opened the health insurance wallet within the province's (district's) territory.
On December 2, 2024, the National Health Security Administration officially launched the national health insurance personal account cross-provincial mutual aid. Employee health insurance personal accounts can be used across provinces for their close relatives to pay for residents' health insurance and pay for medical expenses.
Wallet transfer is one of the ways to realize the sharing of the medical insurance personal account of close relatives. Using the wallet transfer function, individuals can transfer funds from their own individual health insurance account or wallet to the wallet of their next of kin for use in settling medical expenses and paying individual contributions to the resident's health insurance.
