Probably coincides with the new mega port opening in Peru, they can ship massive volumes of raw materials out and return with cargo holds full of the finished EVs.

Q1 Besides the power delivery is there any other advantage of EV platforms with respect to ADAS?
Q2 If EV adoption suffers a big setback in North America, what kind of implications do you see in terms of ADAS?
Some expansion on Q2. Without the Chinese market, most likely the western manufacturers will never scale LIDAR production cost efficiently. Do you think they will just give up on LIDAR (a la Musk)? Does China start to climb up it's own EV focused tech-tree with techs like LIDAR, while the West goes in another direction that still centers around ICE?
There is no ADAS here in America outside of a couple of guys in Bay Area.
Most likely what happens is that European automakers use Chinese tech stack for EVs, including Lidar and auto chips. VW is already fully committed to Horizon partnership.
in general for ADAS, using EVs is better because fully electric systems react faster. But no reason you can't install it on ICE cars.
How come elon always says lidar is not good for EV?
Is VW using Horizon technology for their European and US markets as well?

if you develop tech in China in a JV, would you not use it in your European models? There is no such development going on in Germany.
Cost. EVs are clean sheet designs in which lots of functions are concentrated in a few control systems instead of tons of MCUs spreading all over the vehicle. Adopting ADAS means redesigning the entire ICE vehicle from the ground up.
