That's the thing I hate about democracies and their constantly changing schizophrenic leadership. If it was the same guy, you could easily tell him to F off and go home. Now, the new guy's coming in like, "How could you be nasty to me for what someone else did??" Then, as you're sitting there not knowing what to do with this clown show, they start singing, "It wasn't me" by Shaggy.

Nah, they ain't slick like that. The reason they're crawling back here is because they've suffered the consequences for 3 years and don't want any more. It's not like we'd let them keep that ROC office with the diplomatic upgrade or that we wouldn't view them with heavy scrutiny; we know that the country's interests are still where they are. Democratic elections simply get them more face-saving off-ramps. The flip side is that we know that as a democracy, they can flip a lot so we'd never go all-in either; we trickle in their benefits transactionally.
