We should relax with labeling anyone we find sus as "TRAITOR" or label them automatically as "HANJIAN." Let's not lose our sense of "seeking facts from truth" and let's not be so cavalier with casting aspersions to people of Chinese heritage and origin regarding their own personal choice that made sense to them and their lives. I'm not singling the old lady in particular out. There's also the French and Canadian. Both are NATO members, which is a military institution eager to reposition itself on China's doorstep in Asia, and one was a member of the 8 nation alliance which historically had militarily subjugated China. You may forgive and forget when foreign armies march on your land and crush your people. I may forgive some of them (like Hungary) for now taking a position on the right side of history, but I certainly will not forget those who stood against China then, profited tremendously from enslaving China with drugs, and stand against China again now.

I'm not singling the old lady in particular out. There's also the French and Canadian. Both are NATO members, which is a military institution eager to reposition itself on China's doorstep in Asia, and one was a member of the 8 nation alliance which historically had militarily subjugated China.

First of all, the French are barely part of NATO. Outside of the Anglosphere, exempt from US military occupation, it's one of the few Western nations that does not dance to the tune of America's fiddle (in relative terms). With regards to 八国联军 (to my knowledge), the French have not done very much to China besides that. Forgiveness is possible.
The Canadian government is an American lapdog, the people have little to do with it.

Let the sportsmen and the common folk act in peace. Why do you attack these people with such enthusiasm when they have done so little to offend? They do not serve as jesters for the West, they do not demean their own people with their performances. And they do not carry the spears or forge the swords that NATO seeks to hem China in with. Why the anger?

That's a fair enough of a point about the French. At least they can be negotiated with and seemingly tend not to break their word. As for the Canadians, they are not free of blame just because their government is beyond their control. As they themselves like to wield as a mark of self-righteousness, they get to vote in their own leaders. As such, those who either vote, serve their government, or serve their military are definitely guilty by association for the sins of their government. Genocide of the indigenous people would be their first great and original sin. One which should never be forgotten, and which should eventually be rectified. Not with a mea culpa, which is worthless, but with serious actions.
