Sorry that was years ago. Why would you question that China was accused of cheating unless you don't think they won at all? First they said China was cheating by using Western sniper rifles and then the next year they used Chinese sniper rifles and won again. Like swimming being a territorial sport I imagine sniping is just as territorial when the US goes to the extent of crying "foul" that the Taliban was using snipers against the US while they were using snipers. Chris Kyle anyone?

I'm not questioning that the Chinese snipers won purely by virtue of being superior. I am just curious about the fine details of the accusations and whether they were ever "publicly" debunked.

I just saw this on douyin regarding the news of the explosion of battery factory in SK. With many fatalities. It is said many of those were Chinese female nationals of Korean ethnicity.

I saw the huge number of comments and thought mostly should be about safety issues or condolences but actually top comments were about the pay. Said to be 50RMB per hr. Most were saying that's really high and envious. Some even hoping to go SK. I do wonder how much the factory workers in China gets paid compared to neighbouring countries.

I guess it just hits hard that even though China has developed alot in these decades, theres still some way to go. Many of us are proud of China rise but we also need to be realistic. There are still sections of population and areas in China that are behind. We have to not go overboard in our expectations.

If I recall correctly I never saw any follow up. Why would they because again, how does one cheat in a sniper competition that you don't run? As usual Americans will say cheating somehow on everything when they don't win especially against an opponent they don't like. And this was basically all the Western military competitors butthurt and agreeing.

US needs Chinese students in humanities, Indian students for sciences, US diplomat says

"I would like to see more Chinese students coming to the United States to study humanities and social sciences, not particle physics," Campbell told the Council on Foreign Relations think-tank.

Why would they want more Indians in sciences?

Did the judges/admins of the event ever try to revoke China's win? Did they make any statements contrary to the bullshit lies from the Western participants?

Would it be surprising if we heard in the future that NASA and Bill Nelson pushed the scheduling forward because they were concerned about China beating them? They're seriously trying to avoid Starliner astronauts coming back to Earth other than on Starliner because it will a huge embarrassment and setback if that were to happen.

Again I don't remember any follow-up because the event organizers probably didn't take it seriously themselves so nothing was reported. The accusations were made after China won the first time. The second time when they use Chinese sniper rifles, I don't recall reading if there were accusations of cheating but they somehow believed China was cheating using Western sniper rifles so why not with Chinese sniper rifles also. How did they underperform lose using their own domestic made rifles? It still says it was all Chinese skill.

I didn't know Benedict Wong was a rocket scientist.

It's from the movie The Martian in which CNSA helped NASA rescue an astronaut stuck on Mars.
In the movie he plays the head of JPL. I thought that was a nice touch since JPL was founded by Qian Xuesen and so they really do have an ancestral link to CNSA.

In the movie JPL put together a cargo spacecraft to send emergency supplies to Mars in a big rush, and in their hurry they didn't test the payload probably which caused the whole rocket (an Atlas V in the movie) to explode shortly after launch. Upon seeing this CNSA reached out to NASA and offered them to launch their payload on top of a new Mars capable CNSA rocket on the condition that a CNSA astronaut get a seat on their next Martian landing mission to which NASA agreed. The CNSA rocket carrying the (even more rushed) 2nd NASA cargo spacecraft ended up having a successful launch.
