Why India will never be the next China in a nutshell. Despite toxic Sino-American relations due to tech war, trade war, and the pandemic, China is confident enough to let Elon start a Giga factory in Shanghai. Initially it created competition for local car makers, but those who couldn’t adapt died and the Chinese auto industry became much stronger as a result. India, on the other hand, managed to create a toxic environment for foreign businesses despite companies like Apple, Dell, Ford, etc. trying to help them in an effort to derisk/decouple from China. They are satisfied with grifting companies for short term gain than any long term strategic thinking.
Are the Indians going to treat Apple executives in India the same way they treat Vivo and xiaomi executives?
