The key here is that Schumer and co will be visiting not only China but Japan and SKorea as well.
This is the same game plan as Blinken and Yellen. They first come to China and talk the importance of stability and open communication (to show the world that the US is a responsible actor which wants diplomacy and dialogue) but then they go to Japan and SKorea and bash China and pressure them to take more anti-China stances.
