The more I read about Anglo media and politics the more I realize how self-defeating and utterly moronic it is. They will mald at China for the trade deficit, for "not buying their stuff" while simultaneously attacking and blocking China for buying their stuff. It is not enough China want to buy their stuff, they must only buy their tech free raw material(nobody wants US manufactured goods outside of hi-tech, f off) while not even looking or exchanging words.

That has been happening for about 20 years now.

This contradiction (some would call it stupidity) has been around so long now, that it is normalized.

They aren't western puppets, Africans have their own interests as well. You take away their agency by tagging any move as some western conspiracy. A country like Nigeria can't have the Sahel completely governed by Wagner. No country would and should accept that.

I would've thought there would be more chest beating over this. From China perspective this could be United Front "ally with lesser enemy to strike at the main enemy" type deal to cause rift within 5 Eyes, in additional to any pragmatic reasons due to price fluctuation and Ukraine war.

Ramp down somewhat the trade disputes with Australia.

Ramp up dramatically the economic disputes with America and Europe with the Gallium restrictions.

No unity here, and it cost just many crates of wine.

The Gallium and Germanium restriction could have major effect on the US MIC, but we likely will not see the effect until a year later. By then the stocks will run out, and the cost of acquiring these materials will go up. Pay attention to programs related to missiles and radar and watch out for budget overrun and delays. Well, not like those don't happen before the ban, but it will be exacerbated.

BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany's national railway operator would have to spend up to 400 million euros ($437.44 million) to replace all the components in its infrastructure supplied by Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies, Spiegel magazine reported on Friday.

Deutsche Bahn, which is state-owned, would face delays of five to six years for its projects if the German government decided to ban Huawei components in the short term, the report said, citing an internal company document.

I thought this was an old story from a few months ago.

But no, it is the same story from a few months ago, with yesterday's date.

Seems like something going on behind the scenes.

This is not true. Interests will align at some point. The west and the Soviet Union's interests aligned in WWII. Geopolitics is weird like that.

Their version of extraordinary culture of peace is kneeling to the Americans, no reflections no apologies to their war crimes, and now wants to start another one with China. The author implies that China needs to give them a bomb to get their extraordinary culture of peace.

Only because the west and the soviet union were equals in many ways, that that each saw the other as equals in many fields.

The Europeans do not see Africans as equals. The European interest is explicitly counter to African interests. Anything that seems otherwise is simply gilded chains.

One day, when Europeans see Africans as equals, then there will be interests that happen to align.
