Foxconn is an assembler. China already has Luxshare and BYD as assemblers. BYD is quite crazy, as they're a component maker, electronics assembler, and automotive company all in 1. They're a vertically integrated giant industrial conglomerate like a 21st century version of Ford, GE or Exxon Mobil. Warren Buffet is rich for a reason.

In any case of a westpac contingency, we can look to the model of Bayer in the US, which was nationalized from Imperial Germany.

TSMC is less replacable but without US tools they cannot operate. So they're not really a Taiwanese company.
Terry Gou only has a few years left to join the unification cause or GTFO of Taiwan. He's hedging his bets right now.

There's more to Foxconn's latest India adventure.

Looks like Foxconn plans to build a proper supply chain in India to supply its own iPhone manufacturing there.

That was the earlier Tamil Nadu news.

SCMP Jai Hind!

In my opinion. This Foxconn India adventure is not gonna end well. I've already explained at length about the lack of a coherent foundation for hard industry in India. Secondly, in the not too distant future, India will start fining Foxconn for X number of reasons. Then Foxconn decides leaves India and sells its assets there to the Indian oligarchs for a discount. Foxconn gets conned by India. And by that time, China may already have it's very own rivals to Foxconn and TSMC. By going all-in into politics, Taiwan will eventually lose its semiconductor lead to Mainland China and fade into mediocrity. Apple will lose market shares because it had to Jugaad for a couple of years with its Indian adventure.

Finally, I'll never buy any Apple or Foxconn products that are Made in India. They have decided to go political. So I'll give them the political treatment.
Does Foxconn make phones and other electronic components for major Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei/Honor? If not, is it mainly for Western brands?

I assume there are Chinese owned contract manufacturers that rival Foxconn already? Right or wrong?

Edit: missed @FairAndUnbiased post which answered my questions.

Restrictions will apply to drones that can fly beyond the natural sight distance of operators or stay aloft more than 30 minutes, have attachments that can throw objects and weigh more than seven kilograms (15½ pounds), according to the ministry.
This was one of Europe's top requests on China regarding the Ukraine-Russia war. Interesting

And the US is worried over Chinese AI... because it won't be promoting white supremacy. US AI like they want it adopted around the world will be the like a child sex predator lurking in the shadows working subtly to promote white supremacists interests around the world.
It is not hard to train an AI model once you have an architecture, dataset and hardware: the Chinese government sits on top of the largest datasets in the world and should have no problem retooling any published architecture-hardware configuration to train it's own models.

BYD was once the largest producer of medical face masks in the world, too. At the peak, they were making 100 million masks per day. They must have produced tens of billions of masks in total during the pandemic.

Theocratic state in the making. Even racist Barry Goldwater is scared of the notion that one day preachers took control of Republican Party.
“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem.” Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

Someone from a telegram group I hang out with said he got themself an engineering sample Huawei Mate40 Pro:
View attachment 116635
He said this is definitely not a normal Mate40 Pro and is potent of things to come soon. From a quick google it certainly looks like a different CPU config than what can be expected.

He says that chip is far superior to Snapdragon 888 (he's exact words "花式吊打888"). I don't know much about phones, anyone care to comment?

Well it’s named after Baltimore, so probably the expectations should be low and you might feel robbed after buying it.
