In my opinion, China should learn from soviet union film when in come to filmmaking (like how to make film from cinematography, etc). Establish state institution that studying and analyzing filmmaking and make experimental film (so that they don't restricted by commercialization) and the result of the experiment can be learned by private studio. China already has this kind of institution (to some degree) in animation but it's inactive in 2000-2010s and thank god it is active again.

I mean, china has really good relationship with Russia and china can contact mosfilm to distribute soviet film (which available for free on youtube but as far as i know not many of them available in china). China also can contact former soviet crew who make soviet film and to some degree learn from them.
I mean, chinese government has throwing money all around but it doesn't work because many chinese film trying so hard copying hollywood and chinese director and to some degree government only watch hollywood. Chinese film director (live action) also worshipping hollywood and don't trying to be original.
Former Soviet Crew will be either in West or dead by now. I doubt the new ones are the same as Soviet. There are some success but those have to invest in unnatural places to get some government backing which decrease there ability of further success and even there students fled to west.

China has 5000 years of culture and enough talents, and a super power. As a more superior cultural powerhouse, China learning anything culture from countries like US or Russia is a joke, especially US has no culture. China should take more pride in its cultute. Don't be like Lu Xun who wrote Chinese's culture as nothing more than Cannibalism. The reason why Chinese directors and authors so worship foreigners is because the work of Lu Xun are so influential.

This is arrogance and hubristic thinking. China can be 10,000 years old but can still learn from others. No nation or civilization has a monopoly on knowledge and culture.

Bro Chinese civilization is an assimilation of various culture, like those of Manchurian, Mongols, Muslim, India Buddhism and even from the European. Thru interaction (and being invaded) help create a unique culture that is distinct. I respect your view but the question should be ask is how to become a Chinese, I think you yourself can be one. It's not about the nationality, skin color or different custom and arts, Its about principle and philosophy ,Thru centuries of trial and error with the likes of renowned philosophers such as Confucuis, Daoism, Menzi and others help define what a Chinese should be. It may sound pretentious on my part BUT instead of religion I believed it is more achievable and realistic than FATE base theory. (the reason why atheism is so popular in China)

And another thing, China cultural golden age during the Tang, Han and Ming dynasty is due to her willingness to interact and acceptance of other Ideas. It's when we isolate ourself during the Qing ( Manchu) period that Hubris is abound with disastrous result. So a lesson well learn and it was ingrained to every Chinese.
