There's actually a fuck ton of US internally aimed Mandarin language propaganda that is 100% scrubbed from the mainland market, such as by Falun Gong, Guo Wengui, etc and it has been ramping up over the past 7 years since 2016.

They are FAR more batshit crazy than English language media, and we all know how batshit that is. We're talking stuff like justifying and simultaneously denying the genocide of Native Americans.

Tbh I think it's a very accurate representative of my personal experiences. The sad truth is that Chinese Americans are mostly anti-China / anti-Chinese. Imagine being this mentally cucked. I think the views are also stratified along the lines of gender as Chinese men and women are treated extremely differently.

On views of China, those who were born in the U.S. are much less likely to hold a positive view of China than those who were born abroad (25% vs. 45%).

Among immigrants, those who have been in the U.S. longer tend to feel much less positively about China than those who immigrated more recently.

When it comes to favorability of Taiwan, U.S.-born Chinese Americans are more likely to see Taiwan favorably than Chinese immigrants (70% vs. 60%).

Few are interested in returning home.

About 80% say they would not move to China, compared with 16% who say they would.

However, Chinese-speakers are far more willing to return. This is part of the reason why preserving cultural and linguistic heritage is critical to resisting brainwashing.

I don't disagree with you, or the results of the polls, but remember that Americans are essentially enslaved to their mainstream media outlets. Back in 2016, most polls predicted a landslide victory for Hillary Clinton. She did win the popular vote, but Donald Trump won the general election by a significant margin. Back then, almost all of the mainstream media outlets were fervently anti-Trump, so most people were afraid to say what they really thought about Trump. That's just how it works in the United States. In order to maintain our livelihoods, most of us steer clear of politically incorrect topics.

Post-2016 China is similar to 2016 Donald Trump and early 2010s North Korea in many ways. Most people in the United States dislike China because almost all of the mainstream media outlets here are fervently anti-Chinese. However, few Americans can explain why they dislike China. They may say things like "they started COVID" or "they are authoritarian and want to take over the world" because that's what their mainstream media outlets tell them on a daily basis, but very few of them actually understand China. That's why TikTok, Shein, Temu, etc. are so popular in the United States even though their Chinese origins are widely known. Americans may regurgitate what they hear about China, but few of them actually care.

After 2016, I stopped trusting American polls on sensitive issues. I'm not saying that they're completely useless or that they can't serve as useful reference points. I'm just saying that American polls on issues that its mainstream media outlets have clearly taken a side on are not very useful.

They need to be plugged into the Chinese ecosystem: Bilibili, Weibo, WeChat, TikTok, AliExpress, Xiaohongshu.

I also noticed a lot of "neither" or "don't know" for Vietnam, India and Philippines. It's mostly people being too polite to call them out, especially India and Philippines. Let's be honest, this alone proves viewpoints have nothing to do with human rights,. development level, entertainment industry, tech, etc.

Imo the reason for their answer is precisely development, since Asian Americans responding with don't know for those countries is basically saying that they're poor countries that aren't as wealthy or cool as Korea and Japan, but the American media doesn't portray them as enemies so, "no opinion, but awesome food btw."

As for the diaspora, simply put since American coverage of their nations is rather favorable as "allies" against China, they feel more comfortable saying they have favorable views of their native land.
