Exchanges among China, Russia and Indonesia are in line with common interests of the three countries, which are representatives of emerging markets & important members of the G20, and benefit regional peace & stability, said Chinese senior diplomat Wang Yi in a meeting with Russian FM Sergei Lavrov and Indonesian FM Retno Marsudi on Wed. Wang went to Indonesia to attend a series of ASEAN meetings from Thur to Fri.
The modern equivalent of stacking enemy heads outside their gates.
It would be hilarious if the Russians built a display of burnt leopard 2 tanks in Germany.
Baerbock looked like she was ready to cry.We already have one but of course there are legions of politicians and commoners who still do not want to acknowledge that simple fact. What you are advising is doing the bare minimum like in the past few years on the foreign policy front with zero effect. It has only worsened the international environment from the PRC's perspective.
You're a big fan of loud people talking a lot, aren't you? How very suitable for Western politics. In China, we say, "The silent chicken eats the most rice." We don't like endless public meetings with announcements for fanfare, to give people something to react to (probably has something to do with the need to constantly win elections in the West). And then they silently cancel most of them or just let them rot without follow up. We do things to do things, for the results, not to rile people. Despite the nonstop chicken clucking of the Western henhouse against China and Russia, in the end Russia cannot be defeated in Ukraine and China's rise, in every category, is unstoppable. It reminds me of a tree full of howling shrieking monkeys as two Harpy Eagles silently circle above. This is the difference between silent predators and their panicking screaming prey.
But even beyond this comparison of predator and prey, I cannot emphasize enough the strength and beauty behind silence. There is a natural rivalry in North America through millions of years of evolution between the great horned owl and the bald eagle. The bald eagle is twice the wingspan, 3 times the mass, and has a 3 inch knife-like beak that the owl cannot match. But the owl, armed with slightly stronger talons, gets the better of the eagle the majority of times, because while the eagle has some advantage in one-on-one combat during the day, the owl dominates the night when eagles and their chicks are completely helpless against owls attacking in absolute silence due to their unique ability to fly without making sounds. As a matter of fact, great horned owls prefer to kill bald eagles for their nests rather than build their own! It is because of this stealthy adaptation that there are 300K bald eagles today with every effort from the US government to protect them, vs 6 million horned owls which have never been threatened.
India in SCO was a mistake
The new "I" in BRICS
I can't avoid being amazed by the amount of flexibility and efficiency in Chinese administrative procedures. People really go the extra mile to help you, which happens with no other country's public administration (at least in my experience).
During our current trip my younger daughter needs to get a new passport so we decided to do the procedure in Shenyang.
First issue: normally new passports can only be sent to a local address. Problem: we're only in Shenyang until tomorrow and we don't have a local address. The officer at the counter said "no problem, let's connect on WeChat, I'll receive the passport for you and will personally send it to you." Something like this is unthinkable in any other country.
Second issue: for some weird reason my daughter is shown as having an existing pending passport application in Shanghai, which makes her getting a new passport here impossible. No-one knows why that's the case, clearly some sort of bug in the system. Not to worry: the big boss of the place is called, he says he's seen this situation before when the case officer from a previous passport application forgot to mark the case as complete, leaving it as pending. Which would make sense since my daughter got her previous passport in Shanghai.
Third issue: We're told this is something we can only clear personally in Shanghai, because only they can confirm locally why the application is still pending. We tell them we have no plans to go to Shanghai so the big boss kindly takes it upon himself to call the central system to ask them to investigate.
And... it's solved! It was indeed a mistake made in Shanghai, her new passport can be issued in Shenyang and the officer will receive it personally on our behalf.
Bear in mind all of this, from us stepping foot in the office for the first time to solving all the issues, was done in the space of 24 hours.
So a huge thanks to the immigration office in Shenyang for going the extra mile. I find it absolutely amazing that for a country the size of China, with the largest public administration in the world, they still manage to have such level of flexibility, personal service and speed.
