In naval terms, the weapons platforms you see protruding from the hull are called sponsons.
As to the 076 photos, it's very clear to me that the flight deck is going to be much larger than 075.
While an angled deck is impossible to tell from.the pic, the much larger flight deck is apparent.

From this angle:

1) Both port and starboard have very significant overhangs not seen in the 075. On starboard side (reader's left), it looks like the overhang is uniform along the walls of the hull.

2) On port side, the structure circled looks far too thick to be an elevator platform and the same time it seems to stick out far too much to be a sponson.

They are likely still at the hanger deck.

The section circled above is circled here from a more top down perspective:


This structure projects far beyond the vertical wall of the hull. It is not the elevator platform which is much further back.

We are at least another layer from the flight deck but what we have even now is a plan that allows for a very wide flight deck that overhangs on both sides of the vessel in a way quite different from the 075 or any other LHD/A for that matter -- the deck at the midsection is usually pretty much flush with the walls of the hull.

Latest update on the 076 LHD and the three 054AG/A-mod FFG hulls, photo taken several days ago. One deck-edge elevator well structure is visible neae the stern on the port side.

PS: regarding the still undecided discussion on an angled flight deck or not for the Type 076, at least from this view it does not look like an angled deck?!! I slowly get the gut-feeling, we maybe will see something like the RN QE2 class with a wide deck but without the ramp.

Angled deck, too early to call, still has a level of the top deck to go.
