Even the uninitiated can tell the difference between J-10A and J-10C (the intake, obviously), but inevitably they'd ask "where's the 'B' model?"

Most people in the world don't know what each are, so they look the same and don't care about which models. Heck when I'm in the airport, I can't tell which aircraft are B737 and which ones are A320 and those are the most widespread airliners. People like us have spent way too much time for military aircraft.
The best way to differentiate between a B737 and a A320 is to look at the engine nacelle, because of the Boeing's lower ground clearnce, the engine is nacelle is flat at the bottom. That's how I know what aircraft I flying in.
I was just checking with Zhuhai 2014: the Show was from 11.-16. November and the first arrivals came in (the Y-20 and a bit later the Su-35) on 4. November; so exactly one week before opening.
Assuming a similar schedule - and given the dates from 1.-6. November 2016 - I hope we can expect the first arrivals at about mid next week; maybe from Tuesday (25. October) which would be one week before.

It is wuite difficult to tell when it is park at the apron and the wing tips are obstructed by the aero bridge, in the air flying side by side it is off course easy to differentiate.Guys ... are You sure ????
They are even less similar than a Saab Viggen and the CAC J-9 or the J-10 and the Lavi !

Although your picture is an older 737, which may not have had the flat bottom nacelles, the latest 737 has a "fancy pants" little winglet, taller on top with a mini on the bottom staggered, and a plug in the fuselage which makes it a lot better looking aeroplane! LOL
I do have a very "narrow" focus, I doubt I've posted on the J-10 thread 10 times, and really have no real interest in that aircraft or the Israeli Lavi?? although as of late I like the Eurofighter Typhoon, as well as Rafale, I never was an aft mounted delta fan??? nor a proponent of canards until the J-20 came along??

This VIP-B-737 is a 737-700 and not an "old" model ... as such it surely has the flat bottom nacelles!

Yes you are right although the above aircraft is an extended body with the old style winglets, the top bird appears to be a "shorty" with the new style tips, no I'm not wearing my reading glasses and missed them.
I am trying to count the windows, although I am running out of fingers and toes?? LOL
as well the top picture of the VIP configuration does appear to be a short body, although several of the window positions are outlined, but not cut out???
