The whole plane is a lifting surface, but still I can not yet see how the low aspect ratio might permit carrier operation as is being speculated.
It looks a lot like some of the concept art for NGAD, but then again that's hardly surprising, one imagines their roles would have a lot of overlap if not entirely similar.
Not sure if it is a 6th generation aircraft and used on aircraft carriers, maybe it is another 5th generation aircraft being developed by China, by applying the technology of J-20 and J -31 with ws-10 engine. In case this project is real, the time to complete the project will be very fast because China has experience in designing J-20 and J-31, along with avionics and complete engines. Its role as a fighter-bomber is similar to that of the JH-7, but it is more advanced with a low radar cross section.

Was there ever an ‘official‘ model of a J-20 shown by AVIC in the early 2000s before we even know what it actually looked like?

I think we should remember that the below are all being done at the same time, as have been stated many times by the Chinese.
1) Serial production of current generation, i.e. J20A, and subsequent variants.
2) R & D on next generation, expecting prototype after 2030-2035, entering service around 2040. Concept image may appear now but the real thing will be subjected to many changes.
3) feasibility evaluation of the next-next generation fighter concept. ( honestly I can't imagine what it will be!)

The wings are J-20’s wings. I just hope it doesn’t have those goddamned omnipresent ventral strakes!
If you listen carefully, the demo is about "new actuator", at one point the speaker said "current mechanical electrical system..., now we ...." The text on the screen also says so "高功重比" (high power mass ratio). Apparently the presenter is a subsystem maker, the aircraft CG is just a place holder. The CG may or may not represent a real aircraft in development, it is not the point of the demo, neither could the presenter be responsible for it. Yang Wei would not care about whether the CG is accurate.
So I think, Yang Wei's presence did not confirm anything about the aircraft.
