Let them imagine when "that" engine mated with J-20...
Hopefully we'll see that next year!
Good news is that the J-20 will fly again on the 11th.
Let them imagine when "that" engine mated with J-20...
It's already been rumored that a J-20 has been integrated with the WS-10B3 engine.
Is the WS-10B3 engine the one on display today during the J-10 demo?Yes, but we didn’t know the timetable for development when we first got the rumour. Now we may have some idea.
... which might mean it could be a ball joint designSince it's apparently CGI, it may just be a generic representation though.
It is conceivable to design a con/di nozzle to entrain a small amount of secondary air flow for cooling (IR signature reduction and longer service life of the nozzle components) rather than expansion control purposes. GE proposed such a solution as an option for advanced F110 derivatives at one point, but I don't believe it ever entered production.
Nvm just saw the video. It’s a CG. The good news is the video also lets us take a straight look at the stove pipe.Pretty sure it’s a photo, not CG, but that the pic was a pic of a screen doesn’t help.
I believe X-31 performed at a few airshows during its testing
F35B has some degree of it in vertical hover. Not quite, actually; the X-31 did so at 1995 Paris. F-16 MATV might've performed some shows too.
