Why do I find this story suspect? A German TV crew didn't record it? They never mention anything of footage taken away or deleted. These days cameras can be small. I have a pen camera. You'd figure a group of people who know about camera equipment and knowing reporting negatively on China don't have a small camera in disguise? Also maybe in the US a baseball bat can be found readily nearby in a city but in China where it's not even anywhere near a popular sport?

With their windows smash somehow the German TV Crew can recognize a really good Louisville Slugger (baseball bat brand) when they see one. Definitely suspicious of their story, could be the German TV crew was up to no good and didn't paid the local mob boss, therefore got chased down by the local thugs.

Or maybe it's a complete fabrication. Remember the incident in the Himilayas where European tourists happen to catch Chinese soldiers sniping at escaping refugees? They were able to catch the soldier from a far distance firing his rifle and then turn the camera faster than a bullet and catch the refugee getting shot and falling over. Then how about Western journalists saying they were in a Chinese police station that was completely empty of people looking like some small hotel lounge and saw a plain piece of paper taped to the wall where in English states a handful list of people that aren't allowed in China. On top of that list was Brad Pitt. Didn't see Richard Gere's name or any other celebrity.

Yes, even if this incident is true, we still have to be careful about accepting it as such.

It costs $180,000 for a hour of flight. Now I am not against AF1 I am am Against using it as a personal tour bus especially when one of the issues is spending.

This is not a mis-apporation of funds. it's one of the POTUS "perks". It is fully funded. All presidents since the advent of AF1 have done this.

What's the fight with the Filipinos and Malaysians over in Sabah was about in the first place? I'm just curious at what started the fire fight?

The Sultan of Sulu and his followers wants Malaysia to hand over control of Sabah back to them on which ownership belongs to the Sultanate as Kuala Lumpur continues to pay an annual rent to the Royal family for it's occupation in the last 50 years ...

Who is this Royal Family and how powerful are they to receive such rental income every year? Who the land belongs to originally? Why is so important for the Sultan of Sulu to want it back? Thanks for the explanation.

The term "rent" is contested by Malaysia as the original terms between the Sultan and the British is disputed on translation. To the British and Malaysia, the payment is a cessation fee, not a rental fee. Furthermore, Malaysia fully believes the issue was settled in a UN referendum back in the 60s where the people residing there chose to be with Malaysia.

Malaysian troops backed by fighter jets have attacked an armed Filipino group, trying to end a standoff on Borneo island after violence that killed at least 27 people and sparked fears of broader insecurity in the resource-rich region.Planes bombed the area in eastern Sabah state on Tuesday for more than 30 minutes before hundreds of ground troops moved in to search for around 180 Filipinos believed to be hiding near a coastal palm-oil plantation, Malaysian officials said.

Police inspector general Ismail Omar told reporters the mission's goals had been accomplished and there were no Malaysian casualties, without giving further details.Relatives of the group who have been in touch with the gunmen by phone from Manila said they had survived the bombardment.
