Tens of thousands of people have died since the Tigers launched a campaign in 1972 to carve out a homeland for minority Tamils in the majority Sinhalese island's north and east.

the typhoon is fulling off an Airbus 310 Multi Role Tanker Transport. the 310's are converted from existing airframes as the 310 is out of production. it's larger sister aircraft is the A330 MRTT which was too be adopted by the USAF as the KC 45 and is still being bought in numbers by European and Asian Air forces.

Returning from Djibouti where Somalia President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed had flown to finalise the formation of his government, Sheikh Sharif, a moderate Islamist, expressed sympathy for the deaths of the 11 AU peacekeepers following a suicide bomb attack on the Burundian A.U. soldiers' camp in the embattled capital, adding that the AU peacekeepers had his government's permission to be in Somalia. Hardline Islamist militia Shebab who claimed responsibility for the attack recently called on its fighters to intensify their fight on the AU describing them as invaders.
