To drive home their desire to open the Rafah crossing into Egypt, which has been shut since Hamas took over Gaza in June, Hamas supporters organized a protest in Rafah. Dozens of protesters, many of them women, tried to push through the crossing into Egypt in two waves and were forced back by Egyptian police officers and soldiers.
