Re: Turkish Navy

Since Turkey seems to be in the spot light I think it's not a better time to give a introduction to the new massive modernisation of the Turkish Navy

8 x FFGs
The upgrade the Turks have done to the FFG-7, Perry Class ships are very good.

They have added an Mk-41 eight cell system to fire 32 ESSM missiles and have done a siognificant upgrade to all sensors and the combat system, integrating the ESSMs and the Harpoon missiles into that system.

They are now called the "G-Class" in Turkey and like the Australian upgrade, have made the FFGs modern and capable vessels in today's threat environment.

Those Turkish vessels, the Australian vessels and the eight Taiwan vessels that have been upgraded, totaling 22 vessels in all, and received the ESSM upgrades, and in the Taiwan case the ability to fire the SM-2 MR missiles from the Mk-13 launcher, have improved the ships to be better combatants than the 18 FFG-7s remaining in US Service.

Re: Turkish Navy

Yes and the work was carried out by the Turkish shipyards which gave the shipyards experience and knowledge to overhaul and upgrade these frigates, which will eventaully give Turkey the capability to build its own frigates called TF200 programme

They started small, on Moship and Ratships then shifted to LCT and LST, then they made the Milgem class corvettes and soon they will start to build their first LPD, before they reach the advanced stage to make the 6,000 ton FFG, its a 15 year programme which will give Turkey the capability to manufacture all surface combatants for future of the Navy

OHP is a very robust frigate, built to last, Pakistan also has one the former USS McInerney now renamed PNS Alamgir, it was expects that Pakistan would eventually get 6 such vessels but it looks like only the one will be delivered

One such frigate was clipped by not one but 2 air launched supersonic French built Exocet missile during the Iran Iraq tanker war of the 1980s and it never went down, just years earlier the same missile caused havoc and destruction to the Royal Navy in the Falklands War

[h=2]Cambrai Day parade at Robertson Barracks in Darwin[/h]
Following time honoured tradition, the Australian Army’s 1st Armoured Regiment joined other Commonwealth and allied armoured regiments around the world on the 23rd of November 2012 to mark Cambrai Day.

Deriving its name from the Battle of Cambrai, fought from the 20th of November to the 7th of December 1917, the day was an opportunity to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the operation which ended the stalemate of trench warfare in the Great War, and established the tank as the dominant weapon of land warfare.
