Iran has successfully tested a newly developed air defense missile system during the country's biggest ever air defense drill, an Iranian military official said Thursday. That's not training in Brasil..that's real. The government has had enough of the criminal gangs. When the violence started to spread outside of the "favela's" the outcry was to crack down. Many gang members have fled Rio.

A Coordination of Special Resources (CORE) policeme aims his gun in Morro do Alemao shantytown on November 29, 2010 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A Brazilian Army 'Cascavel' armored reconnaissance vehicle guards the entrance to fazendinha shantytown as a couple leaves, on November 27, 2010 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Rio's slums saw sporadic violence on Friday as hundreds of soldiers and police joined a widening crackdown on drug gangs that has killed at least 34 people in less than a week. Earlier this week, police forced gang members out of the Vila Cruzeiro slum with the aid of tank-like M113 armored personnel carriers, but scores of armed men scrambled up the hills toward the Morro do Alemao favela at the height of Thursday's crackdown, an indication the fighting is far from over.
