The CDC meetings, locally known as a shuras, are opportunities for the people to discuss issues relevant to their community. They are also an opportunity for Australian and Afghan leadership to get a better understanding of community sentiment towards ISAF presence in the area.

Over 30 locals discussed security and development matters at the latest shura, which was held on-site at a school development project in the Baluchi Valley Region.

During the shura, LTCOL Blain announced that funding has now been made available to complete the school, which was very well received by community representatives.

A key outcome of the meeting was community desire for a safer community where children have a secure place to attend school and receive basic health care. Things we take for granted in Australia.

Thai soldiers in riot gear rest beside a wall enclosing Bangkok's zoo as they man a road block along with riot police outside the parliament building in the Thai capital on March 24, 2010. Security forces cordoned off the roads leading to the parliament ahead of a parliamentary session which opposition Puea Thai MPs decided to boycott. Thailand extended a tough security law on March 23 as it faced more anti-government rallies. The red-shirted protesters, loyal to fugitive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, are pushing for snap elections to replace a government they say is undemocratic and represents only the country's elites.

A South Korean naval ship, the Cheonan, sinks as a coast guard vessel sails near the ship in an attempt to rescue its sailors near South Korea's Baeknyeong Island, close to North Korea, in the western waters on Saturday, March 27, 2010. Word that a South Korean naval ship sank in the tense waters around the disputed maritime border with communist North Korea set off panic: The president convened an emergency meeting and the military dispatched a fleet of ships. A mother of one of the 46 missing navy sailors shouts next to navy military policemen who were trying to stop media attending a briefing by Choi Won-il, captain of the sunken ship Cheonan, in Pyeongtaek south of Seoul March 27, 2010. The mother and other relatives of missing sailors were trying to bring in the media to the briefing but were prevented by the military. South Korea on Saturday all but ruled out the chance that North Korea was involved in the sinking of one of its navy vessels near their disputed border. Initial speculation that North Korea might have sunk the ship had spooked Wall Street on Friday. Share prices dipped partly on geopolitical concerns, and the won dropped against the dollar. Can anyone ID the first two? The camo pattern on the soldiers in the first pic looks vaguely Australian, but that's all I got.

the first 2 look multicam to me. but the rifle of the guy kneeling in the second pic looks AK-ish, no?

Those two pictures aren't from the same operation, they're different places and days. As for the gun, I really can't tell, because of the angle the pic is taken from and the light. I thought for bit that perhaps it's an MG4 but I don't think that anymore. Those two guys could be Americans, British, Australians, Norwegians, maybe even Germans.
