Operation PODIUM is the Canadian Forces (CF) contribution to the overall security of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in support of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)-led Integrated Security Unit. During PODIUM, the Canadian Navy will conduct coordinated maritime surveillance patrols in the approaches to Vancouver Harbour, contribute to waterborne security operations within Vancouver Harbour and perform underwater sweeps of Olympic venues.

In preparation for the Games, security and public safety agencies from all levels of government are working together to ensure they are prepared to respond to any potential emergency on land, sea or in the air. The scope and scale of these Games will make it the largest domestic security operation to date in Canadian history.

Great photos Nem116!

See that female crew person on the right?(She may not be aircrew) Her helmet does not seem to fit her properly.Women's heads are somewhat smaller than mens. She needs a fighter jock helmet. I understand the need for the helo helmet for proper buffeting because of the vibration in helos.

However when I was with HC-11 we had a female pilot Ly Miklos that had a fighter helmet because no matter what we did we could not get her helmet to fit. We had to have special permission from the force commander, COMNAVAIRPAC, to gain permission for her to use that fighter helmet in an helo.

Lt Miklos was the first female helo pilot in the USN to deploy on a combatant ship. That was in '83 or '84.
