officials have accused a German officer of giving false information to the alliance when he ordered a deadly air strike by US aircraft in Afghanistan on September 4, the daily Financial Times Deutschland said. The NATO sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity according to the newspaper, said German Colonel Georg Klein told alliance partners that German soldiers were in direct contact with the enemy when he called for a bombing which killed scores of civilians in Kunduz province.
