Why China doesn't purchase weapons from Asian countries

F-22, F-35 all expensive platforms that can't be produced in large numbers, currently F-22 is in service but in small numbers to cause any critical impact. So PLAAF have cheaper platforms to mass produce and can still give a nasty fight. Su-27 is equivalent to F-15, remeber that J-11 is much much improved and effective then original licensed Su-27.

Numbers, well catch up is one thing but depends on which catch path they take.

With the budget, having big military budget in China is rubbish and useless move. Wasted money, time, effort. Sure stable increase is alright but no need as to US budget is needed.

Remember China has 1+billion people to feed and look after. Cleaning pollution, developing cities, electricity for large population, developing clean drinking water, making roadways.

So you see China has bigger more important issues then going to war. Im quite proud China hasn;t tested its military hardware yet cause this means they havent gone to war, meaning lives are spared.

Saying its been battle tested, and war experience isnt a big thing to claim, it states that the country is violent and aggressive. Some exceptions such as defend nations or worldwide disaster.

The 1,4 billion people of China are feeding themselves with their hard work and superb comittment to China's rise,sacrificing their own welfare and blood for the next generations.Don't worry about the people,because they care about themselves.I am albanian and in my country the chinese people have managed to build strong bussineses in a couple of years.Never seen people that work as chinese in my life.This is the same in every country where there is a chinese community.A philosopher (don't remember who)was right in saying that the future is for Asian races to dominate.It's not only a matter of numbers,but is rooted in the culture.This culture can be translated as:clear objective,wisdom,patience,sacrifice,comittment,work.(no publicity and elusive supremacy)
But DEFENSE is crucial in this road.If you still have enemies that can fight you on your soil or strategic zone,without risking their natural and industrial resources that is a problem.(like WW2,where Russia was totally devastated and america enjoyied the biggest industrial growth) It is true that conventionally,China doesn't have the capability to aproach and endanger Americas or N.A.T.O. shores.It would be totally depleted in the middle of the road.Now somebody could say,that is crazy,has no sense.I still believe that humanity is capable of igniting a third world war.There are plenty of forces that could benefit.:china:

China is interested in domestic military production not buying from different countries.Remember..not many years ago they were buying from Russia but now they almost produce everything they need.

You didn't really intake what I said, when you use the word feed the people it doesnt literally mean give them food, shelter, money etc.....Chinese people in China cannot defend themselves fully without government assistance, I lived in China for several years and know this with all my relatives still there.

Government still needs to provide, medical facilities, bus services, electricity consumption demand, police forces to keep community flowing, clean up streets, rubbish disposal, etc.....

US is rich cause its people are already rich, countries developed so finance is driven to other areas, smaller population to look after. Its like you have $100. population of US say 2, and China 9. US $33 each 2 for people 1 to government, China $1 to the 9 people population, and $1 for themselves. Its an inaccurate example for something along those lines.

Reasons:
1. China is Superpower in Asia (pls exclude Japan.. you know the reason why)
2. Only comparable country in Asia is India.., but China & India never going to be a good ally (If it happens it'll be worst ally to entire world)
3. There's no urge for China to procure military hardwares from fellow Asian countries.., as it enjoys peace around its neighborhood

Interesting how this thread continues to be debated when the answer is simple. Virtually every other Asian country is dependent on the West for their military technology. Anything that China wants, they can't sell because the US will stop the transfer of technology. Anything they can sell, China can produce for themselves and at a lesser cost.

Militarily speaking, The Superpower in East Asia is the U.S., or else Japan. China is an economic power, but China's military, due to the lack of power projection capability, does not have a foothold in East Asia. Aside from nuclear weapons, PLA has far less power projection capability than Japan and India. That's why the problem is not China "doesn't" purchase weapons from other Asian countries, but China CAN'T purchase advanced weapons from other Asian countries.

I did not know India and Japan has power projection capabilities but then again you learn something new each day.

LOL they dont, neither 2 of the countries have a bluewater fleet. US is not an Asian country so its out of the picture.

Asian superpower lets analyse the strong points of each country:

>South Korea: Strong navy fleet. But submarines are foreign relied.
>India: Moderate strong navy fleet, domestic except carrier.
>Japan: Electronics are advanced. But nearly all of its military hardware are US supplied or based.
>China: Along with India, nuclear power, large portion of its military hardware are domestic.

Powerprojection: I would go with India just because of its single carrier.
Domestic procurment: China, cause of its vast majority of domestic equipments.
Infilitration: China, cyber warefare the normal citzen are experts in hacking (reffering to non-government computer wizards)
Asserting fear: China due to the pace of them catching up in science and technology, and cause of its population size

India and Japan don't have the kind of blue water navy like the U.S., no body does. But they do have limited blue-water capabilities. India operates a carrier battle group, which is the hallmark of a blue-water navy. Japan also operates a large fleet with helicopter carrier, they also operates the largest destroyer fleet in Asia (Japan has almost twice as many destroyers as PLAN). India, Japan, South Korea, and even Thailand all operates a small aircraft carrier; PLAN, has none.

So please don't just assume China is some sort of regional military power just because of its size and population, they have many technical issues to overcome before becoming a regional military power.
