hannibal in a way is kind of like rommel, great tactician but bad strategist.

btw dont hit me for this but i think alexander is a bit overrated. he is one of the best but not THE best. i think there are quite a few leaders who would've won against persia under someone as incompetent as darius.

Good point! Hannibal's ability for ingenious battle tactics is amazing.

What about 淝水之戰 (Battle of Fei River) in the Jin dynasty, and the Battle of Changping (長平之戰) in 260 BC during the Warring States Period? Changping is, even by today's standards, one of the most lethal military operations in history (according to Wikipedia).

Battle of Guandu. Heavily outnumber. Cao Cao defeated his enemy and consolidate his position in northern China.

Uh, shouldn't it be "liberating" Philippine? The Us was kicking the Japanese out of Philippine, not invading the island.

I think conquer is a more military word, while liberating is more political. Of course, US was indeed liberating Philippine, I just wanted to emphasize the military achievement.
