What is left for Russia to export to China?

That's a good list tphuang has made. But China ever bought Mi26?

Also, there are some land warfare systems clearly have russian influences, they may be continued with russian help to some extend. zbd97 IFV, PLZ05 SP artillery, A100 MRLS.

They might buy some Mi-26s. That's definitely on the list. As for the land system, I can't really comment on them, since I don't really follow that side.

They have decades of experience in military technology in areas where China is only taking it's first steps or hasn't begun to attempt. These are mainly naval, carriers and submarines and strategic aviation, I doubt that China could develop a heavy bomber without talking to the gentlemen at Tupelov.
the first Chinese carrier is actually planning to be more advanced than the last Soviet carrier. As for submarine, I mentionned in my piece already. Long distance bomber, would the Russians really help China on this? Russia does not sell China anything strategic.
Even when China has developed it's indigenous technology to a greater extent, it would probably be wise for them to keep close relations with Russia, even buying Russian equipment or using Russian componentry. Suppose in 10 year's time Chinese engineers working on a major defence project find themselves trying to solve a problem beyond their experience, but which Russian engineers solved before? It's best to keep all your options open in case of such an eventuality.
The Russian engineers that were there during soviet times have left due to the 90s financial trouble. Many of them in fact came to China. It's always good to have military cooperation with other countries, but it can no longer be primary to secondary type of cooperation between the two countries but rather on an equal basis.

What China needs is a long range bomber for critical roles and the only aircraft I can see is the Su-34. This beautiful plane is what China needs. Perhaps an improved version with Chinese systems and electronics could be licensed produced. It's really a top of line fighter bomber second to none.

well really crucial and essential should be Zvezda-2 sonar suite, so that it could become a back-bone for future chinese surface ships ASW sensor fit

Maybe China can import the aircraft carrier from Russia, but I don't think
Russia want export aircraft carrier to his neighbor.

In general, what is left for Russia to export for China? Some tech transfers will continue, but is there much left in Russian arsenal or potential future arsenal which would be in Chinese interests? And connected to this, as Chinese government seems to have about as much moral scruples selling weapons as Russian government, when will Chinese weapon exports overtake Russian exports?

Why always the Aircraft Carrier ??? I can't understand why some people are so obsessed with China having an Aircraft Carrier....I wonder is this is not paranoia.Secondly what China should develop more long range cruise missiles that can be used by submarines, ships and planes. Somewhat like the Tomahawk but a supersonic version would be better. Thirdly building a better deterrence it time for China to field new bombers that have all weather capacity not a stop gap measure like the JH-7A. The Su-34 or a bigger version with internal missile carriage is a conceivable one. For PLAN I would consider building and improving the existing types to implement AIP systems. For Surface Warships development of more advanced anti-ship missiles that can defeat the Aegis equipped ships is a crucial one. I see the short term for the long term it depends on the international situation. Japan changing it's military role in the region. Perhaps North and South Korea being united ???? A compromise to the China-Taiwan situation. etc...etc...

Cruise missiles are needed but they cannot protect shipping. 600,000 engineers a year, what are they all going to do, make dvd players?

Well if they want tooo anyway for me China should go for long range missiles I forgot to add air to air missiles I meant all types of missiles. But a stealthy hypersonic Cruise missile with advanced guidance systems that could reach the US for example and can be used in submarines, VLS in Warships or launched from a Chinese bomber is a great asset. Cruise missiles can be easily mass produced and you can have as much as you want. It's not the same for Warships, Planes etc.....

Cruise missiles is the way forward for China.

Directly exporting...there is not much left for China to buy as people have already mentioned...
But in terms of technological transfers, developments etc...theres a big field Russia and China can work together in. Joint ventures is the way of the future...developing new hardware (and software) together is whats going to happen next i think...
