Some of the most active threads in this forum has got nothing to do with PLA watching. But without them we'd simply see people bring up all sorts of unrelated topics into important threads. The fact that they can't even behave in those less moderated threads should already say much about their value to the forum.

In comparison I've basically never seen by78 post content that is not PLA watching related. To compare the two is asinine.

Also we get one of these threads every 6 months or so, if you want more casual content just go to Reddit.

I would also add that the main PLA watching threads are watched more closely than the other off topic threads, except for some like semiconductors, economy threads -- though severe and obvious cases of racism, swearing and ragebaiting do tend to get picked up on regardless of where it is if it gets reported.

Personally I'm not a fan of the off topic threads, and the key driver of this forum is indeed the military threads/categories.

The value and detriment that a member brings to the forum, will be weighted more heavily based on their actions in the military threads/categories.
