Inflatable simulation equipment are great. They're relatively lightweight and easy to deploy, just haul it to the field and pump it up.

The company that makes the fake inflatable F-16 & Su-27 is Shape Inflatable Manufacture Co. Ltd in Jiangsu:

They even make inflatable aircraft hangers, hehe. The same companhy also makes inflatable advertising balloons and amusement equipment, like those jump-bounce things for kids to play in:

Now its all clear. Those vehicles did look like they werent made out of metal, but I wasnt sure. I mean it did seem kinda dumb to make real sized vehicles out of baloons. Does any one know why? Is it used to mess up the minds of countries spying on China?

Applications:

1. To fool spy satalites etc - these are very realistic
2. To act as decoys in battle - these can be combined with IR and/or RCS simulation also although I don't know if China uses that simple technology.
3. As simulated enemy targets in military exercises - see whether your fighter pilots report seeing F-16s (enemy) or J-7s (friendly) etc.

Another reason to build 'enemy' types is for export - Pakistan could do with a few fake F-16s etc. Iran's latest MBTs look almost identical to the M-1 Abrams etc.

What I dont get is, why make a S-300 and a Scud decoy? How can they be used in simulation? They cant fool spies since China aint got these things.

That is the strangest of all. Actually the scud missile looks a lot like the DF-11. I guess one version of the DF-11 is a white missile and one version is the camo colored one.

The scud looks a lot like the camo colored one, except maybe the cab on the TEL doesn't "indent" in the middle lilke the scud does.

It makes sense that the PLA would want to make decoys of equipment they have or equipment their adversaries have, but the scud is neither
