Each of the Nimitz class has a large structure on the stern...not included with the model, and added to all of them.

I scratch built this structure and added it to the vessel:

I then added more details, including a large comm and lighting tower forward on the starboard side, the jet blast deflectors, the landing lighting system, and other details.

I then added auxillary deck railing along the port and starboar sides, using the Gold Medal Photo Etch kit (as I have been using fr most of the photo etching:

Then it was more details with more safety netting around the flight deck in particular:

And here is how she looks now with the flight deck pretty much completed and all of the details and newer structure added:

The next session willl be the large task of building and modifying the island.

Thanks my friend.

I am working on it now.

The structure is pretty straight forward...but changing it to the Regan Island, adding people inside the various levels and scratch building instruments counters, etc. inside, as well as all of the railing and sensors, will take some time.

Yep, I still think we should have the hot tub sea-trials, and turn the sea-state up to 9 and throw a couple of M-80s in for fun???,,,,,Mirage Driver can bring the "refreshments", LOL!

Just for my friends here on SD...a little progress on the island today:



A few personnel on the various levels, and the initial metal hand railing.

Lots and lots to go yet. Have to redo the aft side of the island to include the Aft radar tower that was incorporated into the island beginning with the Reagan. Then have all the sensors, radars, lights, and more ladders, railings, life buoys, etc. to add.
