At this point I'd have to say it is the Mk 29 mod 5 launcher. All the concept drawings show that, and I have not seen any provision for VLS on any of the sponsons.

As to the self defense weapons for the Ford Class carriers, here's a full run down (I also posted this on the Aircraft Carriers II thread):

Here are pictures of are all four quarters of the vessel showing the weapons systems.

On the Forward Port Quarter you have a RAM launcher, and then further back, amidships, a Phalanx CIWS.

On the Aft Port Quarter you have an ESSM launcher.

On the stern you have a Phalanx CIWS, and then on the Aft Starboard Quarter you have a RAM launcher.

On the Forward Starboard Quarter you have an ESSM launcher and a CIWS.

That will make for a total of:

2 x Mark 49 RAM launchers for RIM-116 missiles. 42 missiles total
2 x Mark 29 Mod 5 ESSM launchers for RIM-162 missiles. 16 missiles total ready.
3 x Mk-15 20mm Phalanx CIWS

Very good self defenses.

Her flight deck usable ( without elevators ) is more big as an Nimitz, only 3 elevators and extended to the rear, and the hangar is more big ?

What maximum number of aircrafts in hangar and flight deck ?

One Nimitz about 45 inside and 45 on the deck.

I precise 45 on the deck without interfering track and catapults.

The three elevator layout will be more efficient. the elevator behind the island on a Nimitz class is never used to move aircraft. It is used only during replenishment at sea.

I may have read somewhere that those Mk 29 mod 5 launchers for the ESSM could quad pack ESSMs into each position. Hav you heard that Forbin?

If they can, that would be simply awesome. That would mean 32 missiles per position, and that would mean 64 ready ESSMs on each Ford class.

I thought as you MK-29, I was still surprised that she is armed with this " old " launchers, but i have recently discovered many infos here

and i see 2 MK-41 with 64 ESSM !

I precise this is a site for a game but I have the impression her look is good, in this case awesome ! all the missiles, bombs, torpedoes almost impossible to know, in my Flottes de Combat nothing for torpedoes ... confirm me Jeff.

Harpoon is an excellent gaming system that in fact has been used in the past by the naval war college to train naval surface command officers.

I created these two pictures for comparison. The USS Gerald R. Ford, CVN-78, stern port quarter compared to the USS George H.W. Bush, CVN-77, stern port quarter :

Shows off some of the differences between the new Ford Class and the older Nimitz class. Island and particularly the after area where you can see how much larger that have made the hanger and shop spaces.
