The Kitty Hawk has been in continuous service since 21 April 1961.

Paver began to experience symptoms of hyponatremia, a condition resulting from low sodium levels in the blood. PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Aug. 10, 2008) Navy Diver 1st Class Michael Linzy jumps off the former Soviet submarine-urned museum, Juliett 484. The submarine sank at her mooring point in about 30 feet of water after a nor'easter struck Providence in April 2007. Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 2, a U.S. Army Dive Company and a Naval Sea Systems Command support unit used lift bags and pontoons, in combination with eight dewatering pumps to lift the submarine. This training exercise is part of the Department of Defense Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program. Through IRT, military divers receive training by taking part in real-world, community-based projects. IRT and civil-military projects improve military readiness and benefit the local communities. PENSACOLA (Aug 8, 2008) A flyover at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola Forrest Sherman Field marks the last training flight of the T-2 Buckeye, the Navy's longest-serving jet trainer. In its 50-year history, thousands of naval aviators have trained in the T-2 Buckeye and have logged more than 3.4 million flight hours. The Buckeye will be replaced by the T-45 Goshawk.
