Lieutenant General
The Army Can't Figure Out What To Do With the Ripsaw "Tank"

The speedy little vehicle seems useful, but for what?

The U.S. Army continues to test a tracked-vehicle veteran of reality TV but doesn't know what to do with it. The Army has tested the Ripsaw EV since 2010 but has yet to come up with a practical role for the quick little vehicle.

The Ripsaw "tank" was frequently seen on the reality TV show "

," which followed the

as it developed a variety of "extreme vehicles". Although the U.S. Army is very interested in the vehicle, with the Ripsaw being tested at a number of Army bases and research facilities between 2010 and 2017, that interest has not translated to government contracts.

The Ripsaw EV2 (Extreme Vehicle) is a small, low-profile tracked vehicle with a two-person cockpit. It is optionally crewed, meaning it can be driven by a human or controlled remotely. It can turn (or more accurately, rotate) on a dime and climb a 70 degree grade. The vehicle has a 600 horsepower Duramax diesel engine—nearly half the power of a 70-ton Abrams tank—making it capable of speeds over 60 miles an hour. Howe and Howe claim it is the fastest tracked vehicle ever built.

A lack of armor makes it less interesting as a crewed vehicle, but a remote-controlled, partially-autonomous Ripsaw could function in a variety of roles, including tank-killer, infantry support vehicle, resupply vehicle, and ambulance. According to

could give Ripsaw EV2 a boost. But for now, it's speeding toward nowhere in particular.

For What? Heck for many things!
1. Fast troop movement in urban areas
2. Transport the injured to a safer Medical EVAC area
3. Transport equipment and ammo quickly in almost any terrain (except heavy vegetation and jungle of course)
4. Recon of enemy tanks and troop movement
5. Can provide quick strike at enemy in dense urban areas.

I other words, I WANT ONE!:D

The "Missing Man Table" displayed at the 2nd annual 50th anniversary of Vietnam Veterans return from war commemoration ceremony at the Ft. Roots VA Medical Center in North Little Rock, Ark., on March 28.

The white tablecloth draped over the table represents the purity of their response to our country’s call to arms.

The empty chair depicts an unknown face, representing no specific Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine, but all who are not here with us.

The table itself is round to show that our concern for them is never ending.

The Bible represents faith in a higher power and the pledge to our country, founded as one nation under God.

The black napkin stands for the emptiness these warriors have left in the hearts of their families and friends. A Purple

Heart medal can be pinned to the napkin.

The single red rose reminds us of their families and loved ones. The red ribbon represents the love of our country, which inspired them to answer the nation’s call.

The yellow candle and its yellow ribbon symbolize the everlasting hope for a joyous reunion with those yet accounted for.

The slices of lemon on the bread plate remind us of their bitter fate.

The salt upon the bread plate represent the tears of their families.

The wine glass, turned upside down, reminds us that our distinguished comrades cannot be with us to drink a toast or join in the festivities of the evening.
