An M1A2SEP Abrams Tank from Company C, 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, "Desert Rogues," 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, charges forward in order to take position at their first engagement point for the day portion of the Gunnery Table VI here at Red Cloud Range, Dec. 12. Table VI is a culminating event, which results in the certification of crews who've proven they are combat ready and proficient at the operation and maneuvering of their tank and its weapon systems. The Cyclone Company, has been out in the field for the last two months conducting Tables II-V in preparation for Table VI. The Cyclones were the last tank company within the 2nd ABCT that still needed to complete the gunnery. With the Army's recent publicized intent to decrease the size of the force, it is well known that the 2nd ABCT is slated to be deactivated. This in turn means that this may very well be one of the last times a tank designated to the 2nd ABCT is fired. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Richard Wrigley, 2nd ABCT, 3rd ID, Public Affairs NCO)

I wonder how this guy feel about this. He's packing the M27 AKA HK416 adopted by the Marines as a Infantry Automatic Rifle replacing some M249. The weapon has a 16 inch fluted barrel. oddly the weapon is not issued with a high capacity magazine.

Note the optics on these M27's are not the same as those on the M4's These are cowitnessed 6x48mm Acogs. The green part is a second sight a micro dot.
