The Northrop Grumman B-21 Raider is a heavy bomber under development by Northrop Grumman. As part of the Long Range Strike Bomber program (LRS-B), it is to be a very long-range, stealth strategic bomber for the United States Air Force capable of delivering conventional or thermonuclear weapons.

The bomber is expected to enter combat service by 2025. It is to complement existing Rockwell B-1 Lancer, Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit and Boeing B-52 Stratofortress bomber fleets in U.S. service and eventually replace these bombers.

The Air Force initial plans are to acquire a minimum of 80 to 100 LRS-B aircraft at a cost of $550 million per unit (2010) and envisions some 175 to 200 to be in service eventually. A development contract was awarded to Northrop Grumman in October 2015. A media report states that the bomber could also be used as an intelligence gatherer, battle manager, and interceptor aircraft.

Initial operating capability is expected to be reached by 2030.

No surprise here, considering many enlisted and even non-commissioned officers don't get paid well at all compare to the commissioned officers.:(

That's simply not quite true Equation, my two son-in-laws were able to send their wives to school on their GI Bill, and they have done very well financially, one earning his own degree as well..and a promotion to Warrant Officer, the other a Sergeant, one reserve now, one active duty reserve...

They both have families, and take good care of their wives and children,,, now the Obama years have been very, very hard on the military, my Warrant Officer son in law was promised a "pilots seat" in Helo's, cancelled after he fulfilled a two year overseas assignment.. that's when he decided he had had enough, even though he has earned his "Warrant Officer's" promotion since separating from active duty.. and they each have had great experiences in the military that translate into good jobs...

The truth is Jura, that our military are well paid, each has health insurance for themselves and dependant's, commissary priveledges, and a generous monthly housing allowance,,, I would say they are the best paid and benefitted military on the planet!!

I'd say in general 25 to 40% of our give it to me "now" population are very poor money managers,so 15% of military families is better than the general population, and the military familes are actually doing better than many other Americans who have lost their health insurance, retirement benefits and medical care under the Obama administration. I lost my Hospice job, and all my medical benefits under the Medicare Rewrite of Hospice triggered by Obamacare, I went from a $40,000 dollar a year job to 15,000 a year, like ALL families in the US, service members and their dependants are eligible for "food stamps" and other govt assistance for difficult circumstances..

could be, but not to have enough money to buy food ... I'm speechless

they do qualify for and receive food stamps Jura, no matter how poor their money management, lots of low end families buy cars, furniture, pets, and other expensive things they can't afford,, counseling and assistance are available for those who need help,, in fact when my DAD was TDY, he went to a store on base and signed out silver ware, blankets, and lots of household items while he was at Pope AFB for training, prior to deploying to SEA, we rented a trailer from a former service member who knew my Dad from previous assignment at Pope, AFB.

Don't get me wrong, being in the military is very hard, service members and their families make sacrifices every day to serve their country, they do it because they want to, there are NO military "conscripts" as there are in Russia and other despotic regimes, and NO draftees!, military service is voluntary, and the military does receive a high percentage of individuals with no usable work skills, who often lack resources and family to support them, the military is a family, and most of my early childhood friends were dependents of other service members.. it was a very good life, but it was HARD!

Below the E-5 rank? Now that's a different story.

Wait a minute.. I've seen active duty personnel years ago in the commissary buying food with an EBT (Food Stamp) Card.

Active duty personnel make enough money. It's a fallacy to think that they don't. Simply put, too many of these fine folks do not know how to manage money. Read AFB post #9266.

This link will tell you how much military personnel get paid with VHA and BAS added on. This does not include and hazardous duty pay or sea pay or any other pay etc...
