When an Australian KC-30A MRTT refueling in flight a B-1B Lancer from the US Air Force

For several months now, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has been multiplying in-flight refueling tests with several combat aircraft and air support aircraft.

Recently, between the end of October and the beginning of November 2016, a KC-30A MRTT tanker traveled to the United States to conduct in-flight refueling tests with a B-1B Lancer bomber, 'US Air Force (USAF).

According to the RAAF publication on its official Facebook page, this campaign required no less than seven flights, during which 100,000 liters of kerosene was transferred to the Lancer by the Australian crew of No. 33 Squadron, backed by military Of the Aircraft Research and Development Unit.

The RAAF says that all the results have yet to be studied but once this stage is over, the Australian KC-30A MRTT will be able to refuel this type of bomber in service only in the US Air Force.

This open capability will enable the KC-30A MRTT engaged in the Australian operation Okra, as part of the air strikes against the Islamic State organization, to expand its field of action with the possibility of refueling the B-1B Lancer Of the US Air Force deployed to the Middle East.

and who else would be as singularly qualified/substantive as a board member representing Northrop to the USAF as sole contractor??? its a match made in Heaven!

I am not a proponent/fan of a new heavy bomber, but it will be "Manned", as its absolute nonsense to send this platform and its capability running around loose for the bad guys/idiots to hack?? even if all they did were to intentionally destroy it???

People in the know, should know better, but NO I am not a fan of any substantive "unmanned" asset, sixth gen bomber or fighter, its purely assnine to put that kind of firepower out there in the atmosphere flying around. We have ICBM's for that role and that is as it should be!

(in reaction to https://www.sinodefenceforum.com/us-military-news-reports-data-etc.t1547/page-644#post-427623):
Except the F15 lacks any form or realistic stealth and is a high end fighter for the Air force. The FA18 is the high end fighter of the Navy. The need is the low end fighter jobs for both and it would leave the Marines with nothing to replace the Harrier which is sourly out of date and not even in the same performance league.

I don't think I've ever seen F-18 presented as high-end AND F-35 as low-end: I've seen the opposite, of course
