If anything, these ULWAs and UADFs (and/or their future iterations) should (if not will) have STOL capability and minimized (if not nil) drawbacks that would be omnipresent for a VTOL design.

Though, I wouldn't argue against any attempts by China to study and develop similar technologies as the V-BAT UCAV... Though, I'd see such configurations as more suitable for smaller, lower-end/attritable UCAVs than what is being described (read: boasted) by Shield AI.

On the other hand, a shaft-driven lift fan configuration (like the F-35B) would be more suitable for larger, higher-end UCAVs.

From a strategic perspective, the same is true for aircraft carriers. USN needs more CVs to fill the gaps, rather than putting all its eggs in CVNs, and then keep falling into a cycle of overdue duty-delayed maintenance-other CVNs overdue duty. But no, the blind worship of CVNs is too prevalent.
