It is fairly well known that both Russia and China have inspector satellites which could disable other satellites if they wanted to.The report said Russia and China are designing and testing counter-space weapons to “deny, disrupt or destroy satellites and space services.
The Soviets were claimed to have something like this. This is just a more modern iteration on that.US to deploy nuclear weapons in Britain for first time in 15 years to combat Russian threat - The Telegraph
The warheads will be stationed at RAF Lakenheath as the threat from Russia grows, Pentagon documents show.
The B61 Mod 12 guided thermonuclear bombs with a yield of up to 50 kilotons can also be used by F-35 fighters
“The United States removed nuclear weapons from Great Britain in 2008, believing that the Cold War threat from Moscow had diminished”, says the material.
Except in this case it is plain stupid. The F-35 has like half the range of the F-111. And now the line of demarcation with Russia is way too far from the UK. Not the West German/East German border. This looks more like a palliative to assuage British fears of Russian incursion than to serve any possible real use. A giant waste of money.
Stationing something like the B-21 in the UK would make more sense.
