The report said Russia and China are designing and testing counter-space weapons to “deny, disrupt or destroy satellites and space services.
It is fairly well known that both Russia and China have inspector satellites which could disable other satellites if they wanted to.

China is also developing — and may be close to deploying — ground-based lasers capable of damaging and not just temporarily blinding US satellite sensors, it said. “They often mask or conceal these activities to avoid international condemnation,” according to the report, titled “Competing in Space” and set to be released Thursday.
The Soviets were claimed to have something like this. The Russians are expanding on it:

US to deploy nuclear weapons in Britain for first time in 15 years to combat Russian threat - The Telegraph

▪️The warheads will be stationed at RAF Lakenheath as the threat from Russia grows, Pentagon documents show.

▪️The B61 Mod 12 guided thermonuclear bombs with a yield of up to 50 kilotons can also be used by F-35 fighters

▪️“The United States removed nuclear weapons from Great Britain in 2008, believing that the Cold War threat from Moscow had diminished”, says the material.
The US used to station F-111s in hardened bunkers with nuclear gravity bombs in the UK. These were supposed to be used to bomb Warsaw Pact countries in case of a confrontation between NATO and the Warsaw Pact. This is just a more modern iteration on that.
Except in this case it is plain stupid. The F-35 has like half the range of the F-111. And now the line of demarcation with Russia is way too far from the UK. Not the West German/East German border. This looks more like a palliative to assuage British fears of Russian incursion than to serve any possible real use. A giant waste of money.

Stationing something like the B-21 in the UK would make more sense.

European countries on the continent are reticent about further nuclearization and the installation of American nuclear weapons on European soil. The UK doesn't have this problem because it is an American puppet in Europe, in fact, some claim (Brits too by the way) that it is the 51st American state.

The USA must have tried to base this movement in Germany or Italy and the two European countries must have refused this American proposal.

I believe this is due to the plague of capitalism affecting the US Military Industrial Complex. Such as the likes of spending money to keep obsolete programs going even though the US Generals have expressed the uselessness of such projects but want to keep the private companies with government contracts a float. A great example of this is the development of the littoral combat ship. Some argue the company responsible for this Austel an Austrilia based company operating in the US of purposely creating problems for the ships to be ironed out later so they could extract more government contract money. The company building the LCS ships Austel USA and Austel Limited was said to have not had a great start with rocky foundations and fear of collapse. A very similar incident happened around the creation of the Huey, which was apparently only given contracts to keep the aviation company Bell from shutting its doors due to financial issues.

There's the heads up, must be really pissed they keep getting distracted from their Asian pivot.

I think any response is going to be fairly measured. I thought the strike on Soleimani was crazy at the time and was worried about a massive retaliation from Iran. I don't think they will even go that far this time, so I am hopeful things will calm down.

This level of attack on US base already exceed of Soleimani retaliation. The latter was mostly theatric. The actual retaliation is delayed and took chance after Hamas attack. Because now Iran is ready.

Suffice to say Iran today will retaliate far greater than back then, even if Soleimani attack was worse in nature.

I don't get why IRGC doesnt move that old bat costume hag with "nuke haram, never" fatwa, test one nuke & all the role playing amrikaans will run to their holes. I dont believe is sanction bs because there isnt much to sanction, besides almost all of Iran's business relation & customers are from Asia.
Come f---ing on Iran. Test nuke!!

China dont want nuclear Iran either. Iran serve its role best without nuke. To be a bruiser without diplomatic complexity a nuclear power entails. Nuke should only be completed as last resort.

I gotta disagree here. I don't think Iran being nuclear or non nuclear is a headache for china regardless of it's official stance. A Nuclear Iran is more stable than a non nuclear one, and more stable than the other nuclear power designated as China's all weather ally. Also testing a nuke doesn't mean it will be used. But once a power is nuclear armed, freedom loving people won't be sniffing there anymore, at least directly. Now we talk about west bombing Iran after certain line. That talk will disappear after nuke is tested. Iran already has the delivery method & blueprint. So once nuke is tested, instantly It will be considered nuclear armed. And then... Nothing will happen.
