They must be looking for all kinds of news to reassure themselves that everything is ok but note that if these Chinese ships are small, it can only mean that they will be faster and be able to deal more of a payload faster (given how advanced Chinese missiles are right now) and thus the USA should be more scared of the consequences if they try to screw with China too much.
