Otherwise it was not a critics again You and even if annoying I can fully understand this decision ... maybe there are options where to place the advertisements? Right in the middle of a thread - or even a post - is indeed not good.

The ads are "auto" delivered and placed by google, its a new feature that I enabled couple of days ago. I am sure it can use some tweaking.

Don't want Google to run my life, what news to read, what to buy, where to stay, which woman to fuck etc, etc. Don't turn SDF into a cheap commercial site, please.

Google is already doing ALL of that... every single website needs some form of ads (some more, some less) to generate revenue, etc.
In regards to Auto Ads, i think it might be too intrusive and not good for user browsing experience.

I suspect new (or very new) members can't simply barge in and start reporting on people on his whims and fancies.

You know the chap is up to no good when his main concern is how to report on people here, after just joining in. :p
