This one looks powered and not relying on leg braces.
Also looked like there were two styles/configurations with servos around the shoulder or hips.

I love the PLA's pragmatism in adopting drones widely for support functions such as resupply and training aide, knowing that current AI technology is still a bit short on enabling drones to be very effective in combat. the US army is also pushing similar projects but the PLA has an edge here in that China's industrial base allows it to manufacture in bigger numbers, and tailor designs to the army's needs, all at a cheaper price.

Two more images of this 8x8 mule. If I recall correctly, this design was submitted by a university for a robotics competition organized by the army. It looks like the army has found it promising.

if what you say were true i wonder how much the army paid the team that designed this.
