The Ministry of Defense reported on the return of units from the Western and Southern military districts after the exercises.

The Defense Ministry reported on the return of units from the Western and Southern military districts after the exercises. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the department.

“The units from the military districts of the South and West, having completed their tasks, have already started loading on rail and road transport and will start moving to their military garrisons today. Separate units will march on their own as part of military columns,” said Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the ministry.

The Ministry of Defense noted that troops from the Eastern Military District and the VDA (Airborne Forces) continue to participate in the joint “Allied Resolve” exercises with Belarus.

The investigative group Conflict Intelligence Team spoke in detail about the transfer of Russian troops. According to the CWI, several weapons from the Western Military District were sent in the direction of Belgorod. Part of the Southern Military District's motorized rifle and tank division was seen in the Rostov region. In addition, investigators noted the transfer of forces from the 49th Army of the Southern Military District to Crimea.

This could mean that Russian units on the Ukrainian border could still remain until the end of the exercises in Belarus on 20 February. The withdrawal of units from Russia's Southern and Western District in Belarus taking place since February 15th could also mean that the number of Russian units near the Ukrainian border may increase over the time the units are withdrawn from Belarus.

The remainder of the units that will still remain in Belarus are from the Eastern District and will likely be transferred to their designated permanent bases.

Units from both the Western and Southern military districts participated in Allied Resolve-2022 exercises. Part of the exercises was completed, the troops completed their tasks. Charging started in the morning. As part of the State of the Union reaction force test, there will also be a live shooting stage, scheduled for February 19.

The Marine Corps brigade, together with formations and military units of the Belarusian armed forces, with the support of operational-tactical aviation and the army, will carry out the tasks of conducting a defensive battle and carrying out maneuvers in other directions. The Defense Ministry spoke about how Russian units are being sent to garrisons.

“Various combat training activities, including exercises, were carried out according to plan. As combat training measures are completed, troops will, as usual, march in concert to permanent deployment points. The units from the military districts of the South and West, having completed their tasks, have already started loading on rail and road transport and will begin today to move to their military garrisons. Separate units will march on their own as part of military columns,” said Igor Konashenkov, an official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry.

Ministry of Defense: Russian military equipment has begun to withdraw from the Belgorod region

Units from the southern and western military districts have completed exercises and are returning to their permanent deployment points, reports Interfax.
The exercises of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are coming to an end, units from the southern and western military districts are returning to their bases in cars and trains. The announcement was made on Tuesday, February 15, by Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.

As Konashenkov clarified, individual units will march on their own as part of military columns. According to the publication, the military from the Southern Military District and the Western Military District have already started loading vehicles. Combat training activities were carried out according to plan, the Defense Ministry representative noted.

It is also reported that troops from the Eastern Military District and Airborne Forces participating in the Allied Resolve exercise along with the Belarusian military are working on the issues of repelling aggression during a defensive operation. In particular, naval exercises are being conducted in operationally important areas of the World Ocean.

Earlier, the United States, NATO countries and Ukraine announced the threat of Russian invasion of the territory from neighboring Ukraine. These statements were refuted on February 10 by the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation. On February 14, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told Vladimir Putin that the Russian military was carrying out a series of exercises, some of which had already ended, while others were coming to an end.

As for the exercises in Belarus, on February 10, both countries started major "Allied Resolve - 2022" maneuvers. They end on February 20th. In Moscow and Minsk, they said that after the exercises, the military would return to their permanent deployment points.

Units from the western and southern military districts begin returning from exercises to their military garrisons on Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said. On the eve of the end of part of the exercises, announced the minister Sergei Shoigu, the rest of the exercises, according to him, will be concluded soon. The statements were made in the context of an acute crisis surrounding Ukraine.

"Units from the southern and western military districts, having completed their tasks, have already started loading on rail and road transport and today will begin moving to their military garrisons. Individual units will march alone as part of the military columns," he said. Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

For clarity, the Ministry of Defense has published a video. These photos show a column of tanks moving over rough terrain, as well as loading tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and self-propelled artillery mounts onto trains.

Military personnel and equipment are returning to their deployment sites after exercises in Crimea (annexed by Russia in 2014), the press service of the Southern Military District reported. Loading of military equipment in the rail echelons - tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and self-propelled guns - was organized. They will return to their permanent deployment sites, including Dagestan and North Ossetia, the message follows.

Since autumn, Western countries have declared the threat of a Russian attack on Ukraine. Russia denies such intentions, but simultaneously carries out exercises in almost every district. A significant number of troops are located close to the Ukrainian border. Exercises are also taking place on all Russian Navy fleets.

Pavel Aksenov, BBC Russian service correspondent

T-72B3 tanks are moving along a country road in a field, one by one passing in front of a video camera. The video, which, according to the description, shows the return of troops of the 150th Motor Rifle Division of the Southern Military District to their permanent deployment sites after the exercises, was posted on the main page of the Russian Ministry of Defense website.

The exercises with the 150th division's tanks are not the first that the Southern Military District has carried out in recent months. Sudden checks, maneuvers and firefights have been carried out in recent months across Russia. They started and ended, but so far the withdrawal of tanks from a training camp has not been presented by the Ministry of Defense in the form of a separate news item with a comment by General Konashenkov.

The words "Russia is withdrawing troops" have undoubtedly been expected in Europe for several months and will ease the tension that has been building in recent days.

The 150th division, stationed in the Rostov region, appeared in the messages of telegram channels and social networks, whose users tried to determine the composition and location of the Russian strike force using open sources.

The tension didn't start over a division of the Southern District. In the West, they are sure that the riot group consisted of at least 100,000 people. The exercises in Belarus, which, according to the West, involved at least 30,000 people, have not been completed, large landing ships from the Baltic and Northern fleets remain in the Black Sea.

On Tuesday morning, telegram channels reported the appearance, according to their data, of a new radar and military medical echelon in the Belgorod region, near the border with Ukraine, and the day before, combat helicopters were seen in various border regions of Russia.

This was reported by telegram channels that monitor the activity of Russian and foreign troops, publishing, among other things, video recordings of users. Such records are difficult to confirm and verify.

-----

It is worth mentioning that the videos that we are posting in this region of Belgorod via Twitter, there is no way to be sure if they are being sent or being withdrawn, as well as the loading of military vehicles in the wagons of the railway line.

All this traffic to Belgorod, are they moving from the Ukrainian border or more distant part of Russia?
Here's the million dollar answer.

We initially saw Russian military equipment being moved from Pogonovo to the Belgorod region.

Iskander systems in Yelnya and Pogonovo seem to be on the move. Tents are being dismantled in both deployment areas and vehicles are leaving.

The above tweet demonstrates that the Yelnya and Pogonovo deployment area are being dismantled and on the move, but no one knows which path they are taking. Pogonovo is more than 300 km from Belgorod which is one of the concentrated areas of Russian troops, but they may also be heading to their permanent bases, there is no way to really know.

See the map:

Yelnya is already further from the Ukrainian border.

Furthermore, according to publication #1006/1007, the Russian media as well as the Russian MoD claim that part of the Russian troops in Belgorod are returning to their permanent bases, the videos we published and found on the internet also cannot confirm this question. , but it seems that everyone already accepts the (questionable) fact that everything that is being moved and transported in Russia is heading towards Ukraine, which is an abysmal mistake.
