Both countries currently even share some aerial assets to reduce costs.

Which ones? The French have requested help with heavy lift, recon and Chinooks from the UK. The only UK request was for an Atlantique temporarily (as in a week or 2). As far as I am aware that tasking is now with the USN and Norwegians until the RAF's P-8 are operational. I'm not aware of any other requests or indeed 'sharing' of assets.

Yes those are the activities that I am also aware about. Besides that, originally there was a plan to share the same aircraft carrier design, until the French Parliament scuppered that idea because they want a nuclear powered carrier. But there were plans to share more assets like the aircraft tanker fleet IIRC.

It's deliberate provocation, and seems more and more like they want a war with Russia. Not where Russia wants to invade another country, rather they want to push Russia over the edge, so that Russia retaliates ruthlessly. And the thinking behind this seems as though it would somehow vindicate them. "See what told you Russia was aggressive and would invade."

Sadly for them, no one with any semblance of intellect, is buy their bullshit!

This game has been played throughout history, from the French Revolution, Nepoleanic Wars, collapse of the Holy Roman Empire, the Battle of Trafalgar and Waterloo, to the reconstituted German Empire, the First World War, treaty of Versailles, colonization of the Middle East, double crossing the Russian Empire on return of Constantinople, to the Bolshevik Revolution, the Soviet Union, the rise of Nazi German Reich, Second World War and Nazi defeat, to the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union. Every time, it's dressed up differently, but has the stench of the same damn puppet masters.

Russia has shown remarkable restraint, acted responsibly and persevered toward forging stability not only domestically, but also with its neighbors and partners. Establishing trade with Europe and China, promoting and encouraging the constitution of new blocks like BRICS and SCO. Shown exemplary leadership in Syria and made partners who were suppose to be enemies (Turkey). These actions are reflective of what a great power ought to be doing. This is what America was expected to be doing as well. Unfortunately and disappointingly, America has behaved in a manner which makes it look like the old Imperial British Empire. Heartless, ruthless, savage and brutal.

Rolls-Royce to deliver MTU Series 4000 gensets for Type 45 propulsion overhaul

Rolls-Royce has been contracted to supply 18 of its MTU Series 4000 diesel generator sets which will be used to improve the reliability of Royal Navy’s Type 45 destroyer.

The contract was awarded by BAE Systems who is the main contractor on the Power Improvement Project (PIP) which is being undertaken to increase the resilience of the power and propulsion system in all six Type 45 destroyers.

The two existing diesel gensets are to be replaced by three MTU gensets per vessel. The three MTU gensets will complement two existing Rolls-Royce WR21 gas turbines also supplying power to the electric propulsion system.

PIP is expected to resolve the problems caused by gas turbines which, once they stopped providing enough power to the engines, caused the ship’s generators to fallout leaving the ships drifting in the waters with no power at all. The problems were particularly prominent in warmer waters as intercooler units on the gas turbines underwent design changes which, subsequently, were not fully tested. The systems worked well in North Sea waters but did not perform well in warmer waters of the Persian Gulf.

Knut Müller, Head of MTU’s Marine & Government Business, said: “We are delighted to have convinced our partners BAE Systems and the Royal Navy once again of the outstanding merits of our Series 4000 gensets and engines. I am convinced the Royal Navy will benefit from this long-term – also thanks to the simplified logistics when it comes to maintaining our engines.”
