Mystery Stealth aircraft spotted in UK. A cancelled Black Project being revived?

Mystery-Stealth-Fighter.png

The following footage was shot on Feb. 18, near BAE Systems facilities at Warton, in Lancashire, England.

The aircraft being moved is probably a full size model of the BAE Replica, a British stealth aircraft model developed by BAE in the 1990s and used for radar testing before its associated program, the FOAS (Future Offensive Air System), was cancelled in 2005.

The FOAS was a study aimed at finding a replacement for the RAF Tornado GR4. After the program was scrapped, it was replaced by the Deep and Persistent Offensive Capability (DPOC) program that was itself cancelled in 2010, following the UK military’s spending review.

The Taranis UCAV (Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle) a semi-autonomous pilotless system that will feature an intercontinental range and will be able to carry a wide variety of weapons, including PGMs (Precision Guided Munitions) and air-to-air missiles, emerged as the eventual successor of the FOAS.

Anyway, the experience done by the BAE with the full-scale model of the BAE Replica is believed to be useful for the F-35, that is going to be the actual replacement for the Tornado GR4.

I wonder If BAE is looking at it's hull configuration for potential use in a Gen VI fighter program either as a offering for the Next Generation Air Dominance (FA/XX) or Next Generation Tactical Aircraft(F-X) or maybe a European offering.

It's pretty, but it is a 14-15 year old model only (no engine, no ability to be flown) program that was cancelled.

I'd love to have it mounted in my front yard!

Well that picture is showing only one of those four, D32, Daring, with the 20mm Phalanx CIWS. So the pic is pretty dated.

All six are commissioned now, and all of them now have the Phalanx. As you can see below:

Wonderful ships. Too bad the Royal Navy does not have twelve of them.

quite. i do wish the government would find extra penny to resume production and get additional 2, if not 6.

but, at least the royal navy has 6 of them in service, whereas france was able to build only 2. :D

Well no more speculation it's a done deal 6 x Type 45 DDG it ends there

What we should be talking about is how much is the capability going to be enhanced

RN is doing feasibility study's on BMD and next summer will work with Americans on BMD enhancement and requirment

Other is addition of harpoons and future tomahawks

France in the last white paper cancelled a second carrier, a 4th mistral class and 3rd and 4th horizon class DDG plus 5 units of FREEM
