Many police departments in the US also use the G36 instead of M4 or M16.
I don't know why police favor the G36 over other guns.
That's a very interesting point, but I never thought the Chinese Special Forces (SF) police could have so much leeway in equipment acquisition as the American police. If the story's true, it's surprising they could choose a foreign rifle over something indigenous. Also, could the G36C used by the Chinese SF police be chambered for the 5.8mm? I doubt it would be the 5.56mm.
No, because that would require re-chambering and retesting the gun, which would cost the same as a brand new rifle anyways...
Ya know what, you're right... my mistake.
But still most U.S. police departments would choose an AR-15/M-16 derivative over a foriegn design anyday.
