Turkey has tried numerous times to procure and take part in the co-development of the SAMP/T NG since the cancellation of T-LORAMIDS, but the French have consistently hindered these efforts.

First ABM tests of the upcoming Siper Block 3 are expected around 2029, and operational deployment would happen even later. Considering the four decades old regional ballistic missile threat, they are exploring their chances to see if a stopgap procurement would be possible, since TR-FR relations are slightly better nowadays.

The Commander of the Navy recently said they have also accelerated the TF-2000 destroyer program, and the 2nd and 3rd ships are going to begin construction soon.
But that's almost painful at that point.
Buy one stopgap until Siper (which btw does samp/t ng level ABM) for political reasons, pack it, for political reasons.
Buy a second one, for another 1-2 years, also for political reasons?
